Equipment

Before starting any work, the workstation is cleared so the surface can be sanitised with multi-surface disinfectant spray or wipes.

Safe keeping, hygiene and sanitisation of our equipment is the most important aspect of our beauty treatments. We take the utmost pride in maintaining high hygiene standards. Our beautician will thoroughly wash hands before, during and after treatments, for every client. We regularly clean and sterilise all tools, equipment, and machinery. We wear PPE equipment such as masks, gloves and an apron where appropriate. We also dispose of waste properly and thoroughly.

Maintaining high standards of hygiene is vital to prevent the risks of cross contamination. Whether it’s from yourself, other clients or dirty tools, fungi, viruses, parasites and bacteria can easily spread if you don’t do your bit to put a stop to them. Thus, clients may be requested to wash their hands. Our beauticians are also provided with hand sanitising gel.

How We Disinfect Nail and Beauty Tools

  • Sanitize all reusable tools by washing them.
  • Dry them with a clean towel.
  • Submerge them in disinfectant for at least 10 minutes.
  • Either remove them or leave them in a disinfectant jar.
  • If removed, place them in a steriliser, clean drawer or containers with lids.
  • After sterilisation, nail tools are left in the steriliser until next use.

Instructions to Our Beautician for Tool Sanitisation

  • Start by getting a clean and dry scrubbing brush. Use it to dust away any dust and debris into the bin.
  • Then, take your nail tools to the sink to sanitise them. Fill your sink up with some hot soapy water and give them a good wash.
  • When done, rinse them off and dry them with a clean towel or fresh paper towel.
  • Once sanitised and completely dry, you can now disinfect your nail tools. To do this, you completely immerse your sanitised tools into a disinfectant solution that should be at least 70% isopropyl or ethyl alcohol (such as Mundo Power Plus Ultra Concentrated Instrument & Tool Disinfectant)

Nail Buffer and Emery Boards

You still need to disinfect these implements if they are not single use. The same process as above applies – you need to remove all the dust, wash them and apply a disinfectant for the required amount of time. If you can’t completely submerge your nail buffer in disinfectant, you can spray it directly onto the surface instead.

Autoclave

The basic principle of steam sterilization, as accomplished in an autoclave, is to expose each item to direct steam contact at the required temperature and pressure for the specified time. Thus, there are four parameters of steam sterilization: steam, pressure, temperature, and time.

Steam is a very efficient medium for heat transference. As a result, you can achieve higher temperatures using steam than boiling water, which makes it a more effective method of killing bacteria and other microorganisms.

Makeup Brush Sanitisation

We use either a gentle soap or shampoo or a makeup brush cleanser. As a makeup brush cleaning agent, dish soap is hard to beat, for efficiency and practicality. Dish soap cuts through grease, oil-based makeup and powder products. We wash makeup brushes religiously after each use.

Most pro artists carry a fast-drying brush cleanser on jobs, so they can quickly clean brushes that need to be used again. I swirl my brushes in an agitator bottle and then wipe them off on a paper towel, repeating until they wipe clean. In addition, brushes are thoroughly shampooed and deep cleaned between jobs.

Fill a bowl with lukewarm water and a tablespoon of either gentle shampoo or clarifying shampoo. Using plain soap and water can dry out the bristles. Swirl each brush tip in the bowl. For a good lather, you can also massage each brush tip in the palm of your hand.

Makeup sponges are binned after single use and we only use new sponges out of fresh packs on each client. Moreover, we strictly use brand-new eyelashes. However, if the customer wishes to keep them for reuse, they are more than welcome

Fresh clean towels are used on all clients, after being subjected to a 90 degrees wash.

Used towels are kept separate from clean towels, then washed at 90 degrees.

We will do this between each client and never mix or share.

Mobile Services Terms and Conditions

PPE is important to keep beauticians, beauty therapist and stylists safe in the event of a blood spill. Bloodborne pathogens can enter the body through broken skin or mucous membranes. Because of this, it’s important to use gloves and face masks, that act as a last line of defence.

Storage of Beauty Equipment

We take extra care to prevent cross client contamination, by sterilizing instruments between each client treatment. Metal instruments such as cuticle nippers, scissors and tweezers are sterilised in an autoclave. Bowls, dishes and other salon equipment is washed thoroughly in warm water and detergent.

Our Rules of Sanitisation

  1. Keep all containers labelled and covered.
  2. Wash your own hands thoroughly before and after each treatment, or spray your hands with antibacterial disinfectant.
  3. Use clean and sterile towels for each client.
  4. Implements and tools must be sterilized the following way: wash implements in hot soapy water.
  5. All towels are washed at 90 degrees and binned after two weeks and replaced with a new batch.
  6. Always follow instructions when using disinfectant.
  7. Rinse equipment in clean water to remove any residue before drying.
  8. Store salon and spa tools in clean, dry, covered containers, or a UV cabinet.
  9. Cleaning all surfaces regularly will minimise the risk of bacterial build-up.

Disposable Vinyl Gloves

Whether you’re involved with waxing, manicures or pedicure treatments, using disposable gloves is recommended. Vinyl gloves will protect your hands from harsh cleaning chemicals and other harmful materials and, because they are disposable, help prevent cross-contamination. Peel them off and dispose in a bin after use.

Barbicide can be used to disinfect grooming instruments and salon tools such as brushes, combs and plastic instruments which are not suitable for autoclaving. Use a measuring cup to mix water and barbicide, before placing in a sealed jar. Always follow the instructions on the product to ensure you are using the product safely and can dispose of it in the correct way, using vinyl gloves. Barbicide also offers a comprehensive range of sprays, wipes and equipment to allow you to provide ultimate cleanliness with ease.

Autoclave Sterilising Machines

Sterilisers and autoclaves are essential in the salon environment as they are the only guaranteed effective method to destroy microorganisms from metal tools and instruments. Before placing your tools in an autoclave, be sure to wash them thoroughly ensuring all matter is removed. You’ll then be ready to use the autoclave which will typically take around 20 minutes to complete. For higher performance an automatic medical autoclave can sterilize in just 11 minutes.

Disinfectant Wipes

Wipes are a quick and effective way to clean surfaces and equipment. Mundo multi-surface disinfectant wipes are a practical and affordable solution and will allow you to effectively disinfect a variety of surfaces such as PVC and vinyl. These aldehyde and phenol free wipes are an essential for any busy professional environment and will enhance the ease of your hygiene routine.

Hand Sanitisers

By using hand sanitisers, you can stop germs from spreading before they get to furniture or products. Check that the hand sanitiser you’re using contains at least 60% alcohol for effective results.

Multi Surface Cleaning Sprays

Hygiene sprays are a great option for salon environments. While they are easy to use, they are also cost-effective and provide excellent results. Ship Shape Surface Cleaner leaves surfaces streak-free and is safe for use on all appliances, including straightening irons. It is also perfect for use on glass, mirrors, salon stations and chairs.

Combs and Hairbrushes

Combs and hairbrushes, as for any other implements used on clients in a salon, must be disinfected after every single use. Keeping all hair styling tools properly disinfected is vital for the safety of all salon clients.

Aftercare

Upon completion of your chosen treatment, aftercare instructions will be given by TMB. It is important to follow these instructions to ensure the quality of your treatment. Some aftercare tips are provided on our website.
